Who We Are
Hot Club of Saratoga, the premier gypsy swing ensemble in the Saratoga/Capital Region, reflects the spirit and style originated by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli in 1930’s Paris. Bringing this music alive from high energy dancing rhythms to soulful ballads and everything in-between, Hot Club of Saratoga has brought the hot swing sound to coffee houses, restaurants, clubs, swing dances, festivals, fundraising soirees, corporate functions, private parties, and, of course, wedding ceremonies and celebrations.

The Cocktail Hour and/or Dinner Hour
Many couples have found this to be our best niche. It is a perfect time for live music regardless of what else you have planned. As part of the celebration, the cocktail hour sets the stage for what follows. What a great space to put a unique touch on your special day. Our style and musical repertoire will always be different from any wedding band or DJ that might follow, and very likely any cocktail hour group you have heard. Always classy, never too loud, moving and upbeat, we provide the perfect energy for you and your guests to mingle, relax, and begin to celebrate. While often choosing more energetic pieces for a cocktail hour, we would generally choose some of our more relaxed selections to provide superb background music for the dinner hour.
The Ceremony
Live music during guest seating and key parts of the ceremony can make lasting impressions. Many Hot Club members are classically trained musicians. We have provided instrumental music during ceremonies ranging from classical trios with string bass, violin, and clarinet, to numbers from our repertoire by the whole group, to folk selections, and more.
The Reception
The traditional wedding band or DJ is a popular choice for this party stage of the celebration. Our style and presentation for a reception is best suited for those who just want a fun upbeat party to celebrate their wedding. More like a swing dance with music running the gamut from high energy toe tapping dance your feet off, to mid tempo swing, to soulful ballads, Hot Club of Saratoga always provides a night of fun. Usually, we play receptions for couples who are looking for a more informal party to follow a wedding ceremony. We have on request played for part of the reception with the last hour or so playing a "dance playlist" the couple provides played through our sound system. We have also put together playlists for couples based on their requests for particular songs and genres.
Additionally, some couples have made their wedding unique by having us provide music for their Rehearsal Dinner or their Morning After Brunch especially when many guests have traveled for the event and stay at the same site.

5/5 Stars The most perfect band for our rehearsal dinner... I've seen Hot Club of Saratoga at least once before at a music festival in Clinton NY many years ago. We could not have been happier in choosing Hot Club of Saratoga for our wedding!!! They learned a song for our ceremony, had great arrangements of gypsy jazz and some traditional wedding music for our reception. All of our guests *loved* them! They sounded fantastic. Chuck also provided a wireless mic with a battery-powered PA for our officiant to use since our ceremony was far away from A/C power. And they also had no problems letting us play a few dance songs through their PA during part of the reception. I cannot recommend this band highly enough - they exceeded all of our expectations!!!

Chuck and the rest of the band were absolutely delightful. Their gypsy jazz style was perfect for our outdoor brunch wedding and reception. They even performed a few special songs for us during the ceremony. I cannot say enough good things about Hot Club Saratoga! They are wonderful!

Great choice for our ceremony through dinner. We agonized over the DJ vs. band decision for our Saratoga wedding.. We really wanted live music, but at the same time a DJ seemed the best answer for after dinner dancing. Eventually we realized we wanted both. We are so glad we found and hired Hot Club of Saratoga. Not only were they a perfect fit for cocktail hour and dinner with their signature Gypsy Jazz, they had the chops to play classical pieces for the ceremony too! We got so many comments from our guests, typically, "Where did you find this fantastic band?" we even worked with them to pick every piece of classical we wanted for each part of the ceremony. Fantastic experience. Highly recommended.

Hot Club did an amazing job at my recent wedding. We hire the group for the ceremony and cocktail house/dinner. From our first emails to the day of, Chuck and the guys are very easy to deal with - communication, payment, musical selections are all very easy. They are professionals...and it shows. Their repertoire of this style of music is amazing. Everyone commented on how fun the cocktail hour/dinner was b/c we had such a different style of music than the "typical" wedding. The ceremony was beautiful - Chuck even provided a speaker and mic for it, which we really appreciated b/c our venue was DIY and we hadn't thought about that. Some Resources For Planning Your Wedding With Hot Club of Saratoga
The nature of our music allows us to play from totally acoustically to using our full sound system and anywhere in between. It is important to us that our sound is crisp and at an appropriate volume for every part of your wedding. In addition to bringing the appropriate equipment to do this, we can provide a few other conveniences to enhance your celebration. We have available:
- A wireless headset microphone for the officiant
- A wireless microphone that can be handheld or placed on a stand
- Smaller amplifiers separate from our main system allowing us to have setups in more than one location
- A battery powered amplifier for a more remote ceremony setting
- A full professional sound system that we use for medium to large spaces
- Combined with other parts of the wedding, we can also make our system available to play your playlist for dancing to your favorite tunes later in the reception.
We are often asked for suggestions for ceremony music, first dances, etc. We have several selections "ready to go", either classical pieces or music from our repertoire that can be found here:
In addition to the selections listed, we are happy to consider requests for music that is special to you.
Please note that our regular band members are shown throughout this site and we make every effort to play with all our band members whenever possible. However, like most bands, we must sometimes substitute players or play in different configurations due to conflicts with regular members other projects and other demands for their talents. Regardless of the players in the night's lineup, you're guaranteed the same high energy gypsy swing.
Private Parties and Corporate Functions
Hot Club of Saratoga is always a hit at private parties, whether providing background music for a soiree, a birthday, anniversary, a house concert, music for a swing dance, or other special event. We can play totally acoustically through a range all the way to a full sound system depending on the nature of the event. If you are looking for music for a corporate function, just tell us what you have in mind and leave the rest to us. Always professional, your event will flow without you having to give us a second thought. There is a reason that many of our appearances since forming in early 2013 have lead the people represented in the listing below to bring us back again. |
